Why Solar Chief installs FoxESS

Four reasons we recommend FoxESS to most Western Sydney customers.

Blackout Protection

Optional backup power keeps your lights, fridge and Wi-Fi running during grid outages. Not all batteries include this — ask your installer about backup circuits.

Real-Time Monitoring

The FoxESS app shows live generation, consumption, and battery charge. Set charge/discharge schedules, track savings, and monitor from anywhere.

AC-Coupled Design

Retrofits to almost any existing solar system without replacing your current inverter. Compatible with Smartshift and Amber Electric for wholesale trading.

10-Year Warranty

FoxESS batteries carry a 10-year product warranty. Solar Chief is a CEC-accredited installer, which keeps your warranty valid and your system safe.

Already have solar? Retrofit a FoxESS battery

AC-coupled FoxESS batteries connect after your existing inverter. That means you keep your current panels and inverter, and just add storage. No need to throw away a working system.

  • Works with most inverter brands
  • No panel replacement needed
  • Keeps existing feed-in tariff
  • CEC-accredited install keeps warranty valid

FoxESS battery questions

How much does a FoxESS battery cost installed?

An 18.6 kWh FoxESS battery retrofitted to existing solar starts from $5,990 including standard installation and STC rebate. Larger 27.9 kWh systems in a complete solar bundle start from $8,691. Final cost depends on your switchboard, existing inverter, and wiring complexity.

Can I add a FoxESS battery to my existing solar system?

Yes. FoxESS AC-coupled batteries retrofit to most existing solar systems without replacing your current inverter. Solar Chief assesses compatibility during your free site assessment.

Does the FoxESS battery work during a blackout?

Yes, if you order it with backup circuit configuration. The battery can power selected circuits (fridge, lights, Wi-Fi, medical devices) when the grid goes down. This is optional — confirm during quoting.

What is the difference between AC-coupled and DC-coupled?

AC-coupled batteries connect after your existing inverter and work with almost any solar system. DC-coupled systems integrate at the panel level but require a compatible hybrid inverter. For retrofits, AC-coupled is usually simpler and more cost-effective.

Is FoxESS a good brand for Australian conditions?

FoxESS is one of the fastest-growing battery brands in Australia. The H series handles high ambient temperatures well, offers scalable capacity (add modules later), and has local support through Australian distributors. Solar Chief has installed over 540 systems using FoxESS and other Tier 1 brands.

Can I expand the battery later?

Yes. FoxESS modular design allows adding battery modules after installation, as long as your inverter supports the additional capacity and space is available on your wall.
